Why we do it piece by piece

piece by piece software building process

Zero41 uses iterative and incremental software development when making software solutions for business. To explain this process and to simplify things a little we created piece by piece. We build software piece by piece because it makes integrating your new software into the business easier on you, your staff and your pocket.

This strategy revolves around a two/three week iteration/cycle of design and development after which a working portion of the software will be completed and released for use. Zero41 encourages each client to put each release of the system to use to gain feedback for adjustments and improvements as soon as possible. The piece by piece process involves the following:

  • Day 1 - JAD (Joint Application Design) Session
  • This session involves Zero41, key system stakeholders and system users where a priority list of features are specified to be built for the current iteration. Once this list has been specified the session members will jointly design the features with Zero41, including any required workflows, screen designs or business rules.
  • Day 2 - 13/20 - Development and Testing
  • The highest priority features specified and designed on Day 1 are developed and extensively tested by Zero41.
  • Day 14/21 - Release
  • New features for the system are released to the client for use. Zero41 meets with the client to go through the new features of the system to ensure everyone understands how to use them. The client starts using the new features.
